PHOTOS: The Top 12 and Coaches perform at L.A.'s House of Blues

"The Voice" has selected its Top 12, after one member of each team got the axe on Wednesday's special results show.

Coach Adam Levine was forced to go with his gut -- saving Sarah Simmons with just seconds remaining in the live show. That left Caroline Glaser, the artist Adam originally stole from Team Blake, out of the running in the final moments of the show.

Shakira was also faced with an agonizing decision when she had to choose between Garrett Gardner and Karina Iglesias.  Saying she felt she would be able to guide and shape his career more, she saved Garrett, who she said has become like a little brother to her.

Blake Shelton let go of Justin River as a strategic choice for the variety of his top three, and Usher saved Josiah Hawley over Cathia.

At the top of the show, host Carson Daly let viewers know that there had been a malfunction in their text and online voting system, but that the results were not affected.  "The Voice" was visited by former coach Cee Lo Green, who performed his new song "Only You" with season two finalist Juliette Simms.  Rod Stewart also stopped by to perform his latest single, with the help of some contestants.  Live shows continue next Monday on NBC.
