HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Harrisonburg's Department of Planning and Community Development gave people an opportunity to get involved in planning the city's future on Wednesday night.

Committees of community members will form next month to talk about topics like education, land, and economic development. The goal here is to revise the city's comprehensive plan.

"I think it's great! I think it's great that the city is making a proactive effort to educate its citizens and to ask for their help in developing a plan for what we want our community to be like," Benjamin Keller said.

"And this is a small enough community that having 50 or 60 people or however many people on these committees will have a ripple effect throughout the community," Joy Loving said.

There will be 2 more sessions this month:

  • Tuesday, February 21 at 1:00pm, or
  • Saturday, February 25 at 9:00am

Location: City Council Chambers, 409 South Main Street, Harrisonburg.

Sessions will run approximately one hour.
