The Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) is now accepting applications for its annual P.A.T.C.H. Summer Camp, a free day camp designed to introduce young adults to local law enforcement and its role in the community. The camp aims to inspire values of Pride, Accountability, Teamwork, Courage, and Honor among participants aged 11 to 15 who are interested in learning about police work.
Supervised by HPD officers and community volunteers, the camp kicks off with an orientation event on Friday, June 20, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The main program runs from Monday, June 23, to Friday, June 27, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day. Lunch is provided for all campers, but families are responsible for transportation to and from the police department.
While Harrisonburg residents are given priority, applications are also open to those from surrounding areas. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in school—public or private—and maintain at least a “C” average, verified by submitting their latest report card. Applications are due by June 6, 2025, and can be mailed, emailed, or dropped off at the HPD lobby.
