Lady Gaga Supports The Idea Of Oprah Running For President

Oprah Winfrey wasn't nominated for a thing at the 75th annual Golden Globes on Sunday (January 7), but the business mogul stole the show when she accepted the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement and stunned the crowd with a necessary speech about a range of topics. Throughout the politically-charged time at the podium, Winfrey touched on several topics near and dear to her, including the "Me Too" movement, racial injustices and the vital essence of truth, all while doing it sincerely.

Needless to say, it was a speech that had everyone thinking the same thing: Oprah Winfrey should run for President of the United States.

Aside from chatter on the blogosphere, the moving 10-minute speech had some backing from celebrities, including Lady Gaga, who said she'd vote for Oprah. On Monday (January 8), Mother Monster took to Twitter to share a short and simple response to the viral moment. "Oprah for president?" Gaga wrote. "She's got my vote." See the tweet below!

But would Oprah really make a bid for the White House in 2020? Well, Stedman Graham, her partner, offered an answer that the media has since run with and all signs lead to a big fat "yes." Speaking with The Los Angeles Times writer Amy Kaufman, Winfrey's right-hand man said, "It's up to the people. She would absolutely do it."

During the moving speech, Winfrey took subtle aim at POTUS and backed the press for their constant examination of Trump's time in the White House. "I want to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association because we all know the press is under siege these days. We also know it's the insatiable dedication to uncovering the absolute truth that keeps us from turning a blind eye to corruption and to injustice to -- to tyrants and victims, and secrets and lies," she said at the podium. "I want to say that I value the press more than ever before as we try to navigate these complicated times, which brings me to this: what I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have. And I'm especially proud and inspired by all the women who have felt strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories. Each of us in this room are celebrated because of the stories that we tell, and this year we became the story."
