Is Nick Cannon Permanently Replacing Wendy On The 'Wendy Williams Show'

Talk about a "Hot Topic!"

Just after DailyMail reported that "staff at the Wendy Williams Show are calling on producers to permanently replace" the host, Wendy Williams , with stand-in host Nick Cannon , sources told Page Six Wendy is fearful of losing her job. "She’s super scared and anxious," an insider told the site. “Watching [fill-in host] Nick Cannon being a huge hit with her audience is tough for her. They’re already starting to mess with the format. It’s like watching them screw around with her baby."

Earlier this week, DailyMail claimed that staffers believe she has not been "authentic" with her fans or her employees, who say they were "left 'in the dark' about her absence and now claim she actually took time off to deal with her 'cheating' husband Kevin."

"I mean it's probably time Wendy steps away from the show. She's not authentic anymore. How can she discuss hot topics when the biggest topic involves her husband publicly cheating on her for years?" said the insider, referencing cheating rumors that sparked last year after it was reported Kevin has had a mistress for years. "It's really sad as you'd think that Wendy would have more respect for herself and she would stand up, dump her cheating husband, take control of her business and empower women who are going through the same thing." The source added: "This is her chance to be a role model, but she's letting women everywhere down by not being the boss that she pretends to be on her show. Think about it - Oprah [Winfrey] or Ellen [DeGeneres] never treated their audience and staff like this on their shows. So it's time [to say] goodbye to Wendy and Kevin and [hire] Nick to take over."

As previously know, Wendy was hospitalized for a third time earlier this month reportedly due to complications stemming from her Graves’ disease. "As Wendy Williams Hunter previously shared, she fractured her shoulder and has been on the mend. Over the past few days, Wendy has experienced complications regarding her Graves’ Disease that will require treatment. Wendy will be under the strict supervision of her physicians, and as part of her care, there will be significant time spent in the hospital," read a statement from the Hunter family just weeks ago. "Despite her strong desire to return [to her talkshow], she is taking a necessary, extended break from her show to focus on her personal and physical well-being.Wendy thanks everyone in advance for their well-wishes and for respecting her and The Hunter Family’s privacy during this time."

Nick has since been the talk show's temporary host . During an episode this week, Nick gave an update on Wendy's return, promising viewers that she "is coming back" soon.

As fans know, Wendy fractured her shoulder in December and then worried fans with her on-air behavior. Shorty after sustaining her injury, she slurred her words on-air and seemed out of it during an interview, which led her to issue an apology to her viewers. Since apologizing last month, blaming a bad reaction to pain medication for her "performance," Wendy has delayed her show’s return twice. It was originally slated to return shortly after the New Year, however, it was pushed back to January 14, then the 21st in order to allow Wendy time to heal.
