The Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA is once again participating the Empty the Shelters adoption promotion, sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation, and will have cats, kittens, rabbits and guinea pigs available for adoption at Petsmart on Sunday, October 14, 2023. This is the third such promotion the Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA has participated in this year in an effort to find adoptive homes quickly.
The Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA still has over 300 cats and kittens in its care. Many of them are under medical care or too young to be ready for adoption. We still have too many cats in our care for this late in the season. While the number of felines coming into our care has decreased, we have seen a greater number of very young kittens come into our care and these need a lot of extra TLC before they are ready for adoption. Some of them are ready now and we’ll be at Petsmart on October 14th to find homes for them., said Executive Director, Huck Nawaz.
The number of felines coming into the care of the Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA has gone down thanks to the Community Cat Vouchers they’ve distributed. The Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA covers the cost of having outdoor cats spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped for Rockingham County residents.
