TS “Look What You Made Me Do (TV)” Debuts in The Handmaid’s Tale

Sorry, the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now….

Why? Because she’s at it again — teasing us with another sneak peek of “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version),” this time in a chilling new context. The track set the tone for a gripping opening scene in The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6, Episode 9, which premiered last night (May 19).

The haunting intro sets the tone as Gilead’s red-cloaked women march through chaos and sirens, with the song playing for over two minutes. Viewers hear the first verse, chorus, and second verse, all layered under sounds of unrest and tension.

This isn’t the first time Reputation (TV) has crept out from the vault. In 2023, the track made a surprise appearance in Amazon’s Wilderness trailer, and it popped up again in 2024 in Apple TV+’s The Dynasty: New England Patriots during a dramatic scene about Tom Brady’s comeback.

Elisabeth Moss, the star and executive producer of The Handmaid’s Tale, told Billboard she’s been hoping to include one of Taylor’s songs in the series for years. “There couldn’t be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment,” she said, adding that both she and many cast members are longtime Swifties.

So when’s Reputation (Taylor’s Version) actually dropping? Fans have been speculating since her São Paulo concert in November 2023, but many are now eyeing May 26 as a possible announcement date—especially since Swift’s website recently highlighted “AMAS” (American Music Awards) and marked down 12 items to 26% off. Coincidence? Swifties think not.

Though “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)” hasn’t hit streaming yet, fans can now hear a longer snippet in The Handmaid’s Tale.
