Harrisonburg is launching a new emergency alert system called “Neighbors in the Know” to encourage more residents to sign up for essential safety updates.
Juliana McGrath of the Harrisonburg Police Department explained that the system is designed to keep people informed during emergencies. “This is how we get vital information out fast—like severe weather, shelter-in-place notices, or other major public safety events,” she said. “You’ll get a text, email, or phone call—whatever works best for you.”
