Turns out JD Vance has a soft spot for love stories. The vice president recently chimed in on the big news that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially engaged, and despite his very different politics, he's still a fan.
Speaking to USA Today from the White House on August 27, Vance said he’s genuinely rooting for the couple: I’m a romantic when I see two people who are in love getting married. I just wish ’em the best… a long, healthy, happy life together.”
Still, Vance noted that most folks would probably rather see politicians stick to politics and celebrities stick to what they do best.
That’s where things get interesting. While Vance downplays the crossover, former president Donald Trump has made a habit of weighing in on pop culture — especially Swift. Over the past year he’s mocked her Super Bowl moment, fired off a Truth Social post saying “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT”, and yet still found time to congratulate her and Kelce on their engagement. “I think he’s a great player, she’s a terrific person… I wish them a lot of luck,” Trump said.
So, love might not conquer all, but at least when it comes to Swift and Kelce, it’s earning bipartisan applause. ❤️🏈🎶
