Bad Bunny Addresses Super Bowl Backlash on “SNL”

Bad Bunny took the stage as host of Saturday Night Live’s season 51 premiere on October 4, using his opening monologue to tackle the controversy surrounding his upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.

“I’m very happy,” the 31-year-old Puerto Rican star said with a smile. “I think everyone is happy about it — even Fox News.” The line set up a satirical clip showing fake Fox News anchors showering him with praise, declaring him “America’s favorite musician.”

Switching to Spanish midway through his speech, Bad Bunny spoke directly to his Latino audience. “This isn’t just a win for me — it’s a win for all of us,” he said. “Our footprints and our contributions to this country can’t be erased.”

He ended his monologue with a playful challenge: “And if you didn’t understand what I said, you have four months to learn!”

His remarks come after criticism from conservative figures, including former Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski, who claimed ICE agents will be present at the 2026 Super Bowl in Santa Clara, California. Despite the controversy, Bad Bunny emphasized pride and unity in his message, celebrating the growing visibility of Latin artists on one of the world’s biggest stages.
