Nicki Minaj is showing major love for Taylor Swift’s new album The Life of a Showgirl.
On October 3, the day of its release, Minaj took to X (formerly Twitter) to gush about several tracks that stood out to her. Her top pick? “Wood,” which she called “EXACTLY what I needed tonight,” adding that Swift’s layered writing would “go over y’all heads.”
Minaj also praised “Eldest Daughter,” calling the song’s message deeply intentional and relatable to “authentic lone wolves.” On the album’s title track, which features Sabrina Carpenter, she applauded Carpenter’s energy, saying, “She’s fully in character. She gets it.”
The rapper couldn’t resist hyping up the more confrontational moments on the record, including “Actually Romantic” — rumored to be a diss track — and “#Cancelled.” “Taylor said, ‘I heard you called me boring Barbie when the Coke’s got your brain,’” Minaj quoted, before cheering, “GO IN FOR THE KILL, TAYLOR! The fact that Taylor is a battle rapper is sending me.”
Swift and Minaj have shared mutual respect for years, despite a brief clash in 2015 that ended with a joint VMA performance. In 2023, Minaj even said she’d collaborate with Swift “in a heartbeat,” calling her a “Sagittarius queen” who always returns with great music and devoted fans.
While Swift was the focus of Minaj’s praise, the rapper has also been trading jabs with Cardi B online this week — proving that even amid rap feuds, she’s still making time to celebrate artistry where it’s due.
