During its annual Fall Meetings in Atlanta, the Sun Belt Conference honored standout athletes from the 2024-25 season at the Sun Belt Honors Banquet, naming James Madison’s Peyton McDaniel as the Female Student-Athlete of the Year.

The reigning SBC Player of the Year, McDaniel led the Dukes to a program-record 30-6 (18-0 SBC) season, averaging 16.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. She was the only Division I player in 2024-25 to post those averages while hitting 70 or more three-pointers. Her record-breaking performance ranks her eighth all-time in JMU scoring (1,668 points) and just 29 rebounds shy of entering the program’s top-10 rebounding list.
