Kevin Parker is back — and he’s bringing the beats with him. The mastermind behind Tame Impala has released Deadbeat, his long-awaited fifth studio album, marking his first full-length project in five years. The record dropped at midnight on October 17 and serves as Parker’s debut release under his new partnership with Columbia Records and the Sony Music network.
Deadbeat dives deep into the “bush doof” culture that shaped Parker’s youth in Western Australia — the underground rave scene that once fueled his creative fire. The album’s euphoric lead single, “End of Summer,” set the tone earlier this year, blending dancefloor energy with the lush psychedelia that made Tame Impala a global phenomenon.
Parker and his live band will hit the road in 2025 for The Deadbeat Tour, launching October 27 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center before heading across North America, followed by a European leg kicking off April 4 in Porto, Portugal, and wrapping May 13 in Dublin, Ireland.
The new project follows 2020’s The Slow Rush, which topped Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart and reached No. 3 in both the U.S. Billboard 200 and U.K. Albums Chart. Its predecessor, Currents (2015), also hit No. 1 in Australia and earned Parker and Tame Impala the BRIT Award for Best International Group.
Earlier this year, Parker celebrated his first Grammy win, taking home Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Neverender” alongside French duo Justice. Deadbeat also features previously released tracks “Loser” and “Dracula,”the latter marking Tame Impala’s first-ever appearance on the Billboard Hot 100, debuting at No. 55.
With Deadbeat, Parker revisits his roots while pushing Tame Impala’s signature sound into a new era — one that’s equal parts nostalgia, rhythm, and reinvention.
