Ariana Grande says she’s eager to return to the stage — and not just for concerts. In a new Interview magazine conversation with Nicole Kidman, the pop superstar revealed that she hopes to pursue more live theater after completing her work on the Wicked films.

When Kidman asked if Broadway was in her future, Grande didn’t hesitate. “Absolutely,” she replied, explaining that her first professional experience was actually on Broadway at age 13. She appeared in the 2008 musical 13, where she performed in the ensemble and delivered a handful of lines. The experience, she said, taught her vocal discipline and helped build the stamina she now relies on as a performer.

Kidman mentioned the intense commitment Broadway requires, but Grande said the idea doesn’t intimidate her. Growing up, she believed acting in theater would be her lifelong path. That plan shifted when she booked Victorious as a teenager and soon after launched her pop career, which took off almost immediately. Grande admitted that adjusting to sudden fame was overwhelming at first, even as she remained grateful for the opportunities that came with it.

For now, Grande is focused on wrapping up the Wicked: For Good press cycle and preparing for her upcoming Eternal Sunshine tour next year. She recently posted a heartfelt message to fans following the film’s premiere, reflecting on her lifelong love for Wicked and her gratitude for the chance to portray Glinda.

Grande wrote that the musical has been a source of comfort since childhood and called joining the cast “the greatest gift” of her life. Whether she ultimately returns to Broadway, she said, remains to be seen — but it’s a dream she’s ready to chase when the time is right.
