James Madison Dukes football head coach Billy Napier announced the addition of 61 new players to the program on National Signing Day as the Dukes prepare for the 2026 season.
The incoming class has earned a No. 75 national ranking from ESPN, placing it among the strongest recruiting groups in the Group of Six. The class features a mix of 20 high school seniors and 41 transfer athletes from across multiple NCAA divisions.
JMU added transfers from a wide range of programs, including seven from Power Four schools and 11 from other Group of Six teams. Additional signees came from Football Bowl Subdivision programs, Division II schools, and one from Division III.
Napier praised the new group for their motivation and determination, saying each player brings a unique story and strong desire to succeed. He added that the staff believes this class will help maintain JMU’s high standards while pushing the program to new levels.
The signees represent 23 states and three countries, with the largest numbers coming from Florida, Virginia, and Georgia. Several others hail from states including Texas, Maryland, and North Carolina.
With recruiting complete, the Dukes have turned their focus to offseason conditioning. Spring practice is expected to begin in March as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
